The Book Thief

So much violence. So much gentleness.
So much hate. So much love.
So much sadness. So much happiness.
The power of words.
Read. This. Book.

  1. I've heard other people say how much they enjoyed this book, I'll have to bear it in mind. I don't read many books these days, I never seem to find the time, too busy doing other things.

  2. I will have to keep this one in my mind. I do love a good book that can move you. Recently read One Day. How this book has passed me by I'll never know, but with the film hype surrounding it I was curious. I know its not fashionable to not knock a successful read. But I loved it. Could not put it down. If you have not read it I would highly recommend it.

  3. This book had a huge impact on me. I read it several years ago & it is one I'll never get rid of... I wept at the end, big chest heaving sobs, as G drove round Cornish roads... That feeling still sits with me.

I love the thought of death seeing people surounded in colour, picking the innocents up & holding them gently. It sounds odd, but its often how I see death now, as a more postive humanised figure.

It is the most amazing book, just behind my chidhood favourite, Enid Blytons faraway tree!

  7. I loved this book but i read it after his other book "I am the messenger". That was an excellent book. I read "I am the messenger" years ago, lent my copy out and never got it back so i can't remember much about it except i couldn't put it down.

  12. I caught sight of the title of your blog post when I read Diane's blog - The Book Thief is the only book that has made me cry. You summed it up brilliantly.
